Owen Barnes

Consultant

Before joining The Information Lab, I studied Philosophy at the University of Nottingham, and then transitioned my career into Data & Analytics after pursuing an MSc in Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence. I wrote my dissertation on implementation of AI methodologies on digital mental healthcare, extensively using Tableau as a way of visualising the experiments I had conducted.

I joined the Information Lab in 2020 as a member of the 21st cohort through the Data School program. Since then, I have gained experience in various industries, including Software, Tax, and Investment Banking, delivering solutions in Tableau, Alteryx and Python. Additionally, I have participated in pro-bono work with different NGOs associated with The Information Lab. In February 2023, I became part of the Core Team, where I focused on short-term consulting engagements and helping existing customers diagnose technical issues they are facing.

As a core consultant, I take the lead in our Seeing is Believing (SiB) projects. These projects involve week-long engagements aimed at helping prospective clients initiate their journey with the softwares we use.

New music, classic medium

Outside of work, I am passionate about exploring new music and digging for vinyls. I also love cooking and exploring new cuisines from around the world.
