Ollie Clarke

Principal Data Engineering Consultant

I first started working with data while studying Experimental Psychology at the University of Cambridge. After a brief stint working as a professional singer, I joined the 8th cohort of the Data School in February 2018. Before joining The Information Lab as a Core Consultant in 2019 I had placements in Manufacturing, Strategy Consultancy and Financial Services.

I found myself being drawn to Alteryx and especially its community. Subsequently, I was recognised as an Alteryx ACE in 2020 - a title I still hold. I also passed the Alteryx Designer Expert certification in June 2021 and again in January 2023.

After working as a consultant for 6 years I moved into a support role for our Data School consultants — sharing my experience and knowledge, helping them become the best data consultants in the biz.

I'm now focussing on Data Engineering as the Principal in our Consulting practice.

Pasta and Polyphony

Having spent 18 months as a jobbing singer pre-data, I still am active on the London singing circuit — singing with a number of choirs. While I'm happy singing anything, I particularly love renaissance polyphony and how its vibe ranges from meditative to incredibly dramatic.

I also enjoy making pasta having invested in a cranked pasta machine in lockdown. Always looking for a challenge, I've developed a reputation amongst my friends for marathon carby monstrosities that take 10+ hours to make and can feed a small village.

In an attempt to work off the pasta, I am a keen cyclist and less keen runner. I've completed 1 marathon, but don't think I'll do another. I also play 1 game of rugby a year.
